[ she believes him, that he won't get creative, though she still wants to grab him by the hand and ask him, again, that she come and help. but she doesn't, allowing him to pull on his gloves and collect his cane, leaving the bathroom with her still sitting on the counter. and inej remains that way for a few moments, silently counting to herself. estimating how long it will take kaz to leave, and make it to the roof.
then, inej gets up and quickly gets dressed, strapping her knives into place, and slipping to the rooftops herself. she follows him silenty, and lingers in the rafters once she arrives at the slat. just in case. after all, she had promised him she would wait until six bells. she hadn't promised him she would do so at the geldrunner.
the fight itself feels like hours. she can't remember the last time she felt so furious. cowards, every single one who either raised a hand to kaz or stood by and did nothing. after everything he had done for them. pathetic, spineless scum. though kaz did as he promised her - he handled it, and inej imagines she's in for something of a lecture once they meet up again for following him.
that being said, inej has half a mind to make herself known if only to warn the spineless that doing nothing won't save them from catching the end of her blade.
she lingers, waiting to see which way kaz will go . . . and the answer is back up the stairs, which causes her to cringe slightly. his leg must be complaining something fierce, though inej steals her way along the rafters, sticking to the shadows and slipping out of a window in order to climb the outside, making her way to her room, and making herself known as she hears kaz coming up the stairs. ]
Let me help.
[ it's said quietly, as she appears out of nothing, slipping an arm around his waist to help him with an additional stable point to make it up the last flight of stairs. no one in their right mind would come speak to kaz now, and even if they did see her, who cared.
he had done the hard part on his own, and that was what mattered. ]
