[ she has had it out with kaz before (and will surely have it out with him in the future) after scraps in the barrel. he is stubborn, as is she, and they both have had their fair share of argument over visiting medical, or simply sleeping it off. so the fact that he doesn't argue with her and simply does as he's told quells the sharp retort on her tongue. he must be in a lot of pain, to just agree.
she works in silence for a moment, to tug out what she needs to take care of him. idly, inej realizes neither of them are really in the shape to continue doing whatever it is they need to do in order to save themselves and this hell of a city they've decided to protect. her wounds still pull under the fresh bandages, but inej ignores the sting to fold a cold compress, squeezing out the excess water. ]
They do not deserve you.
[ she says finally, her tone quiet as she holds out the compress for him to take. kaz had barely managed to bandage her own wounds; inej won't offer to assist him until she's certain the touch won't make him feel worse. ]
The cowards would not have a roof over their heads if it weren't for you, and they did nothing.
[ it's hard to keep the anger out of her tone, though she speaks quietly, returning her focus to casting her gaze around the room, finding the nearby ottoman that kaz uses to prop up his leg tucked in a corner. it only takes a few seconds to bring it near enough so he can rest his leg properly. and, as inej starts to unfurl bandages, she adds, with no lack of bitterness: ]
They should flee to Pekka Rollins while they still have the chance. The spinelessness would suit.
